  • During today’s Harmony OS and hardware product launch, Huawei took the wraps off the upcoming Huawei P50.
  • The design of the phone looks a lot like the leaked renders we saw months ago.
  • Unfortunately, Huawei could not commit to a launch date for the device.

Today, Huawei revealed a slew of new products, including two new tablets, some watches, and its brand new (sort of) operating system, Harmony OS. However, towards the end of its event, it also revealed the design of one of its most anticipated products: the Huawei P50 series.

You can see the reveal of the phone in the video below. Fast-forward to the 1:57 mark to get to the good stuff:

Unsurprisingly, the official images of the phone look very close to the leaked renders we saw months ago from Steve Hemmerstoffer. The rear camera module is composed of two large discs with a quad-sensor array embedded within. Huawei says the phone is very ultra-thin, and we believe it since the rear camera bump looks to be quite subdued.

The phone also appears to come in a slick gold colorway that looks positively premium.

However, Huawei couldn’t give any details on when the phone would actually launch. The English translator for the video interpreted Huawei CEO Richard Yu’s speech as such: “For reasons you are all aware of, a launch date has not yet been set, but we are trying to figure out how to make this great product available to you.”

That was all Yu had to say about the Huawei P50 series. Hopefully, we’ll have more information to give you soon.
