- Disney Plus Hotstar is reportedly getting all new plans in India starting at Rs 499/year.
- Two of the older plans are apparently getting discontinued.
- The new plans will come into effect starting September 1.
Disney Plus Hotstar is reportedly revamping its plans in India. According to NDTV Gadget360‘s Akhil Arora, the streaming service is ditching two of its content tiers for Netflix-style plans starting at Rs 499 per year.
Disney Plus Hotstar new plans
As per Arora, Disney Plus Hotstar will adopt these new prices starting September 1. The Rs 499/year plan will be a mobile-only offering and will allow subscribers to stream on one mobile device in HD quality.
The service will also introduce a new Rs 899 “Super” plan. This will give Disney Plus Hotstar subscribers a year’s worth of access and the ability to stream on two devices in HD.
Finally, a Rs 1,499 “Premium” plan will allow subscribers to stream in 4K on up to four devices.
If you are already on Disney+ Hotstar Premium, not much will change for you. However, you will now be able to stream on four devices simultaneously instead of two.
The new plans mean that the service is getting rid of its current Rs 399 VIP plan that allows subscribers to watch all content on the service except for American shows and movies. The monthly Rs 299 premium plan that includes access to all Hotstar and Disney Plus original content, in addition to content from HBO, Fox, and Showtime, is also likely getting the ax.
However, the good news is that all the new Disney Plus Hotstar plans will allow subscribers to stream the service’s entire catalog without any restrictions. So you’ll be able to watch premium content on all the plans, unlike before.
